Primary is a non-profit organisation and contemporary visual arts institution led by artists, situated in a Grade II listed former school in Nottingham. Functioning as a dynamic centre for creative exploration, groundbreaking projects, and collaborations, both the organisation and its dedicated gallery spaces aim to enhance engagement in art creation. Additionally, Primary strives to cultivate meaningful connections between local and global communities.

Situated near Nottingham’s lively city centre, the Primary Gallery & Community Hub occupies a historic grade II listed Victorian school building. Recently reopened to the public after undergoing various construction projects, the focus has been on enhancing accessibility, fostering a sense of welcome, and promoting inclusivity.
In line with the commitment to accessibility, the building required a secure yet user-friendly access control and door entry system to cater to the needs of both staff and visitors.
Recognising that the existing security and access control system was outdated and in need of a significant upgrade, a new IP-connected door entry system became essential during the building’s refurbishment. This modern system replaced the previous analogue technology, extending its coverage to the gallery, communal areas, and workspaces throughout the building.

Situated in close proximity to the vibrant nightlife of the City, prioritising security and selecting products resistant to vandalism or tampering were pivotal considerations.
